Exciting progress at the Wine Spectator Wine Education Center! The walls are going up quickly. Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of touring the space with Foundation board member Michael Baldini to discuss where the original Trefethen signage will be displayed in the new building. Stay tuned as we continue to share updates on this incredible new space for Napa Valley College.

The Wine Education Complex is a campus within a campus, dedicated to bringing students and the community together around state-of-the-art wine education facilities.

A two-phase project, Phase One has generously been funded by @wine_spectator and will more than double the current facilities of the Wine and Viticulture programs.

On April 25th we kicked off the Campaign for Napa Valley, an effort to raise $4 million for Phase II of the project, with a Wine & Hospitality Training Center for students.

Phase I of the Wine Education Complex project broke ground on May 17th with the start of construction of the Wine Spectator Wine Education Center classrooms. Phase II fundraising is ongoing.

Many of you are likely aware of the passing of Nap

Many of you are likely aware of the passing of Napa Valley winemaker, Warren Winiarski. What you may not be aware of are his connections to @napavalleycollege.

Directly responsible for bringing Hugh Johnson, world-renowned wine writer, to speak, encouraging free entry for students, Warren was a strong supporter of our Viticulture and Winery Technology (VWT) program, speaking occasionally to wine marketing and The Cultural Appreciation of Wine classes. He also helped create campus events, and was an annual donor.

He is known for “The Judgment of Paris” when a panel of French wine experts picked his cabernet sauvignon as the top red wine over some of the most prominent French wines.

A philanthropic and generous spirit dedicated to creating opportunities for the students of Napa Valley College, we will miss him, and extend our condolences to his friends and family as he gathers well-deserved recognition for his legacy here in the valley and beyond.

With Phase 1 generously funded by @wine_spectator, this new facility will provide training in all aspects of wine marketing, sales, and hospitality, including winery food programs, wine club membership, tasting room management, tourism, and the role of a winery chef.

Our students have bottled our trial lots produced in 2024! Trial lots provide students with an opportunity to explore new and varied winemaking techniques to produce the best-tasting wines from the fruit harvested in our teaching vineyard.

In our Winery Operations Class, students work on producing these lots to learn about wine processing and bottling, while our advanced winemaking students analyze and taste the lots to gather data and draw conclusions. Although these lots do not go into commercial production, they play a crucial role in helping our students produce award-winning wines!

Beautifully marrying the hospitality, tourism, culinary, and wine programs, this immersive restaurant experience allows students to explore roles in hosting, serving, cooking, and beverage service.

The entire experience is open to the general public to attend and allows our community members to meet and mingle with the future chefs of Napa Valley!
